Overview

Medical billing is one of the fastest growing healthcare jobs, so the course is designed for students who want to build careers as hospital billing specialist. Medical billing specialists perform advanced clerical tasks and financial processing. They will learn the process of entering patient information into databases, as well as become familiar with medical terminology, pathology, anatomy, basic pharmacology, medical ethics and laws, and the financial practices of hospitals. The course will ensure expertise in management of healthcare billing-processing, adjusting and resubmitting of claims; adherence to current healthcare industry regulations and policies.

On successful completion of the course, the student will be competent to: 

• Demonstrate critical thinking skills while applying knowledge of specialized medical terminologies, insurance and regulation systems.
• Define basic health insurance terminology relating to medical billing and the claims process.
• Define basic anatomical, physiological and pathological terms used in the healthcare field
• Apply security & privacy concepts according to HIPAA guidelines.
• Differentiate between major classes of health insurance.
• Apply a variety of computer skills necessary to prepare documents related to billing, coding and health care settings.
• Collect, interpret, and analyze source documents to create accurate medical records.
• Prepare accurate health insurance claim forms including CMS 1500 and UB-04.
• Operate health insurance billing software.

Eligibility

Applicant should have passed 12th std. with any of the stream.
