Overview

Emergency Medical Technician(EMT) is a professional who provides emergency medical assistance in different emergency situations like accidents, during the child birth, slips and falls, heart attacks and serious injuries or wounds etc. In short, EMT is required in all the emergency cases. During the course of Emergency Medical Technicians, students are given training on how to respond quickly during any medical emergency situation. EMT course also makes a student capable of providing services like transport of the sick or injured patient to hospital from home or from home to hospital as per the guidelines and medical protocols. Also if there is a need of any emergency procedure then EMT professional do the needful in the ambulance during transport. Some of the paramedics are also trained for treatment of minor injuries under the supervision of physicians. EMT professional should also have knowledge of handling the different equipment and their maintenance like backboards which is used to immobilize patients before placing them on stretchers by securing them in the ambulance while transporting to a medical facility / trauma center.
