Certificate Course in Vision & Ophthalmic Assistant

In order to be eligible for course student should have completed class 12th in the science stream or be a graduate in any other stream. Must be 17 years old at the time of joining the course.

The Vision & Optometric Technician course is aimed at skilling individuals as an eye specialist's clinical assistant in an optometrist outlet and spectacle manufacturing units. The course will impart training to assist an eye specialist in a clinic, conducting visual acuity tests, preparation and repair of spectacles.

The course curriculum covers the following topics:

>>Roles and Responsibilities of a Vision Technician.

>>Obtaining case History of Patients.

>>Common Eye Problems and Infections.

>>Vision Assessment of Eye Hospital based Patient.

>>Assist Eye Specialist in the Examination of Patients.

>>Dispensing Optical Prescription and Spectacle Lens Accurately.

>>Grinding and making of Spectacles.

>>Follow the Biomedical Waste Disposal Protocol.

>>Follow the Infection Control Policies and Procedures.

>>Consent, Observing, Reporting, and Documentation.

>>Basic Life Support,

>>Counseling and Patient Rights

The admission process at the Tech Mahindra SMART Academy for Healthcare in New Delhi and Mohali is as follows:

• Complete the form and take the entrance test as per the course of your choice. The entrance test is based on a standard school science syllabus and does not require any specialized studying beyond revision of basic science concepts. Candidates who clear the entrance test will have a personal interview with a senior member of the faculty. Admission is confirmed only upon receiving valid documents and receipt of the first instalment of fees.
