Certificate Course in Operation Theatre Technician

Overview

The aim of this course is to teach and train students in handling a variety of electric and electronic equipment used in modern operation theaters and to keep it in good working order. During practical training students are posted in operation theater of Choithram Hospital to learn how to prepare operation table, dressing trolley, anesthesia equipment and surgical equipment in safe, clean and ready to use condition.

Scope of the Course:

• The O.T. technicians are also known as surgical or operating room technicians. Their major role is to provide assistance in surgical operations under the supervision of surgeons.
• O.T. technicians act as backbone of the operation theater and in their presence surgeons feel comfortable during short or long surgical procedures. Without a good O.T. technician a surgeon is found to be helpless.
• O.T. technician also helps anesthesiologists for preparation of various drugs, induction, incubation and positioning. O.T. technician has pivotal role in smooth, safe and effective functioning of the operation theater.
• After the successful completion of certificate course a well trained O.T. technician is always absorbed in hospitals (Govt. and private) and nursing homes.

Eligibility

The Candidate who has passed 12th (10+2) examination with Physics, Chemistry and biology with at least 40 % marks will be eligible for admission and 5 % relaxation for ST/SC/OBC candidates.
