Certificate Course in Obstetric and Gynecology Care Nurse

Applicant should have completed GNM or B.Sc Nursing Course.

The course is designed to acquire knowledge and develop attitude and beginning skills in rendering nursing care to normal and high risk pregnant women during pre-conceptional, antenatal, natal and postnatal periods. It helps to develop skills in managing normal and high risk women and participate in family welfare programme. Students will learn required nursing care and explore the legal, moral, ethical and ethno-cultural issues affecting the obstetrics and gynecology patient

Performing different procedures through using different models & simulators available in the skill lab and they will be able to:

• Identify the anatomical parts in both male & female reproductive system through using models (bony pelvis)
• Identify different stages of fetal development using different development models.
• Perform complete physical assessment for women during the antenatal period through using the full-body simulator and another lab resource
• Assess the parturient physical condition & the progress of the process of normal labor through using a childbirth simulator, and different models available in the lab.
• Perform complete physical assessment for women during postpartum period through using full-body simulator & childbirth simulator.
• Prepare delivery set and instruments and equipment needed during labor.
• Use the full body pregnant simulator to demonstrate the different fetal positions attitudes, lies, and presentations.
• Use different interactive childbirth simulators to help students to formulate nursing care plans according to each scenario.
• Perform physical examination & resuscitation for the newborn using interactive childbirth simulator.
• Assess any deviation from normal during labor using a childbirth simulator.
