Medical transcription (MT) is the process of converting voice recordings from healthcare professionals into written or electronic text documents. Medical transcriptionists use electronic devices to transcribe the recordings.

Purpose:

1. Medical transcription ensures that medical records are well-documented and easily accessible.
2. It also helps to speed up record keeping and reduce the need for physical note-taking.

Responsibilities:

1. Listen to audio recordings from physicians and other healthcare professionals
2. Accurately type the recordings into a digital format
3. Edit the transcribed documents for accuracy, grammar, spelling, and formatting
4. Return documents for review and approval
