Certificate Course in Basic Bronchoscopy

The course is designed to provide basic training as well as advanced training in bronchoscopy under conscious sedation. The candidate is formally assessed at the beginning of the course for knowledge and hand skills and the program is accordingly planned to tailor it as per the need. The course duration is for 4 weeks which can be completed in a single stretch or can be divided into 2 separate stints to accommodate those that are already in practice. The procedures may also include doing the same in the ICU for patients on the ventilator. The flow of number and type of cases is variable and will dictate exposure to the cases.

At the end of the course the participants will able to:

• Describe the anatomy of the bronchial tree
• Understand how to perform basic inspection bronchoscopy and associated procedures
• Removal of secretions for diagnostic and therapeutic purpose,
• Transbronchial lung biopsies and transbronchial needle aspiration depending on case availability and candidate’s skills
• Cleaning and maintenance of bronchoscope
