About
CCL has a proud past history. It was announced at the beginning of nationalization of coal in India in the form of NCDC. NCDC was established in October 1956 as a Government owned company pursuant to the Industrial Policy Resolution 1948 and 1956 of the Government of India. It started in 11 old state collieries. (owned by Ravel) with an annual production of 2.9 million tonnes. Till the establishment of NCDC, coal mining in India was spread over the Raniganj Coal Welt in West Bengal and the Jharia Coalfield in Bihar (now Jharkhand). Apart from this, some areas of Bihar (now Jharkhand) and also in Madhya Pradesh, now Chhattisgarh, and Orissa. is spread. From the very beginning, NCDC worked to increase coal production and develop new coal resources. Apart from this, modern and scientific technology of coal mining was established. In the Second Five Year Plan (1956-1961), NCDC took steps to increase production from collieries to be opened away from the fully developed Raniganj and Jharia coalfields. Eight new collieries were opened during this period and 8.05 million tonnes were produced by the end of the Second Five Year Plan. extended.
