Cardiothoracic ICU Nurse Certificate Course

Applicants must have completed Bachelor in Nursing or GNM course.

The course will train the participants to provide cardiac nursing care in ICU to the patients ranging from newborn with heart defects to elderly patients with advanced heart disease. Under this programme, they will learn about different cardiac diseases, their treatment and risk prevention. The participants will get hands-on clinical experience in diagnosis of acute and chronic diseases, interpretation of lab tests and other cardiac tests

• Understand cardiovascular critical care nursing and cardiovascular intensive care unit.
• Review basic heart anatomy.
• Know clinical judgement in critical care.
• Identify indications for adult cardiac surgery.
• Comprehend pre-operative and post-operative cardiac surgery nursing evaluation.
• Familiarize cardiac arrest management after cardiac surgery.
• Interpret cardiac diseases and critical care nursing management.
