About

Byramjee Jeejeebhoy Government Medical College was established on 23rd June 1946. B.J Medical College was earlier known as B.J Medical School which was founded by Shri. B.J Kher, Head of the Bombay Government. B.J. Medical School was founded in the year 1871. Sassoon Hospital was founded in the year 1869 by Sir David Sassoon. The institute was affiliated with the University of Pune in 1949, which is now affiliated with the Maharashtra University of Health Sciences, Nashik, Maharashtra. The college initially started functioning with an intake of 200 students in MBBS programs and 143 students in postgraduate programs. A building for a super-specialty department is built from the donation of the Infosys Foundation. UG, PG, and Super-specialty courses are conducted in the college. 200 admissions and 145 PG admissions are made every year.
