In 1975, to mark the 2500th anniversary of lord bhagwan mahaveer, a group of philanthropic persons from the jain community in bangalore registered a charitable institution by the name of bhagwan mahaveer memorial jain trust with the object of helping the poor and the needy. The main object was to provide medical facilities at a very affordable cost. However, no compromise is ever made in the quality of healthcare provided. The basic aim is to provide assistance to all men, women, children, and persons belonging to all caste and creed. With this aim in view, the foundation stone of bhagwan mahaveer jain hospital was laid on 23rd may 1976 by his excellency late sri mohanlal sukhadia, the then governor of Andhra Pradesh in the august, presence of his excellency late sri uma shankar dixit, the then governor of Karnataka. The hospital was inaugurated on 9th April 1990 by sri veerendra patil, the then honourable chief minister of karnataka. It has grown to a reputed and big hospital with over 200 beds with all modern facilities.
