Biomedical engineering is a multi-disciplinary field which prepares engineers to enable unmet medical demands through design of Medical Devices. The Food, Drug & Cosmetic Act. (FD&C Act) defines a device as an instrument, apparatus, implement, machine, contrivance, implant, in vitro reagent, and the like. Biomedical Devices help in mechanical processes like movement such as prosthetics, or implants which replace a part of an organ, electronic devices which can be used in diagnostics or simply software such as those for improved imaging. This program provides undergraduates a sound background in the multi-disciplinary field of Biomedical Engineering with components from Health Science, Engineering, Computer Science and Design. The course nurtures engineers with problem solving ability in areas of health science.
