Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSc Nursing)

• Nationality: Candidates must be Citizens of India children or dependents of Non Resident Indians.
• Academic As per Indian Nursing Council norms, the candidates should have passed +2 class with 12 years of school- ship with 50% aggregate in Physics Chemistry Biology & English.
• As per norms of Kerala University of Health Science (KUHS) for admission for B.Sc Nursing, the minimum educational requirements shall be the passing of: Higher Secondary School Certificate Examination (12 years course), Or Senior School Certificate Examination (10+2) Or An equivalent with 12 years schooling from a recognized board or university with Science (Physics, Chemistry, Biology) and English with minimum of 50% aggregate marks.
• Every candidate before admission to the course shall submit to the Principal of the Institution a Certificate of Medical Fitness from an authorized Medical Officer with MBBS or higher qualification certifying that the candidate is fit to undergo the course.
• Rounding off of the percentage of marks to the nearest whole number is not permitted.
• Candidates who have passed their qualifying Examination from authorities other than the State of Kerala, except CBSE and ICSE, shall produce the certificate of recognition and equivalence of the qualifying examination from Kerala University of Health sciences / Directorate of HSE, Kerala.
• Age: Applicants should complete 17 years of age on or before 31st December 2023. The maximum age limit for admission shall be 35 years. No relaxation of age will be allowed.
• Duration of the programme shall be four years.

On completion of the four years B.Sc Nursing programme the graduate:

• Apply knowledge from physical, biological and behavioral science, medical including alternative systems and nursing in providing nursing care to individuals, families and communities.
• Demonstrate understanding of life style and other factors, which affect health of individuals and groups.
• Provide nursing care based on steps of nursing process in collaboration with individuals and groups.
• Demonstrate critical thinking skill in making decisions in all situations in order to provide quality care.
• Utilize the latest trends and technology in providing health care.
• Provide promotive, preventive, and restorative health services in line with the National Health Policies and programmes.
• Practice within the framework of code of ethics and professional conduct, and acceptable standards of practice within the legal boundaries.
• Communicate effectively with individuals and groups, and members of the health team in order to promote effective interpersonal relationships and team work.
• Demonstrate skill in teaching to individuals and groups in clinical/community health settings/ School of Nursing
• Participate effectively as member of the health team in health care delivery system. • demonstrate leadership and managerial skills in clinical/community health settings.
• Conduct need based research studies in various settings and utilize the research findings to improve the quality of care.
• Demonstrate awareness, interest and contribute towards advancement of self and of the profession.
