Bachelor of Science (Hons) (BSc) in Biotechnology

Overview

The B.Sc. (Hons.) in Biotechnology at SVIMS is designed to provide a comprehensive education in applied life sciences. The curriculum includes core and elective subjects spanning cell biology, genetics, recombinant DNA technology, industrial and environmental biotechnology, bioinformatics, and molecular microbiology. Emphasis is placed on hands‑on laboratory work, internships, seminars, and industry collaborations. Faculty members are experienced and the university delivers a blend of theoretical knowledge with practical training to prepare graduates for careers in industry, research, quality control, and higher academic pursuit like M.Sc. or Ph.D.

Eligibility

Academic: ≥ 50% in 10+2 with required subjects (PCB + Mathematics)

Entrance Exam: Must appear and qualify in WBUT CET (West Bengal University of Technology Common Entrance Test)

50% seats via General quota (merit-based by CET ranking)

50% seats via Management quota
