Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Optometry

The B.Sc. Optometry Technology program at AIIMS Raebareli is a specialised undergraduate training focused on vision science and clinical optometry within a premier medical institute environment. Over three years, students learn ocular anatomy and physiology, optics and visual perception, refractive error assessment, optical dispensing, contact lens fitting, binocular vision, low vision aids, paediatric optometry, ocular diseases and diagnostic procedures. The curriculum combines classroom instruction, laboratory work and hands-on clinical exposure – including vision screening and optical evaluations – under supervision of experienced faculty and eye care specialists. Graduates are prepared to work as optometrists in hospitals, eye clinics, community health programs, optical centres and research settings, contributing to improved vision care and patient outcomes. Being part of AIIMS’s paramedical cadre ensures exposure to tertiary-level clinical settings and high standards of professional training.

• Passed 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry and Biology (PCB) from a recognised board.

• Minimum age: 17 years on or before December 31 of the admission year (standard for paramedical undergraduate eligibility).

• Must qualify the AIIMS Paramedical Entrance Examination and participate in AIIMS Paramedical counselling for seat allotment.
