The B.Sc. Optometry program at JNU provides students with in-depth training in eye health diagnostics, including anatomy, ocular pathology, optics, refractive techniques, contact lens fitting, orthoptics, low-vision rehabilitation, and vision therapy. The curriculum blends theoretical education with hands-on clinical exposure—students perform eye examinations, use advanced diagnostic tools (e.g. slit lamps, keratometers, auto-refractometers), manage ocular diseases, and dispense corrective lenses. The one-year internship ensures real-world clinical experience in hospitals or vision centers. Graduates are equipped for careers as optometrists, vision consultants, low-vision specialists, and can also work in research, eye camps, and optical retail settings
