• Passed 10+2 (or equivalent) examination from a recognised board/university.
• Science stream (Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology) is required in many institutions. Some require Mathematics as well.
• Minimum percentage: Many institutions expect around 50% aggregate in the qualifying exam; reserved category is lower in some cases.
• Minimum age: at least 17 years by 31 December of the admission year (in many cases).
• Good health/fitness is often required (especially because of clinical/hospital responsibilities).
• For lateral entry (if available): a recognised diploma in the relevant field may be allowed.
