Overview

Government Medical College, Anantnag (GMC Anantnag) is a relatively new government medical institution established to enhance medical education and healthcare service provision in the Anantnag region of Jammu & Kashmir. The B.Sc in Medical Laboratory Technology is one of several paramedical degree courses approved at GMC Anantnag, with an intake capacity of 20 seats.The course is affiliated with University of Kashmir and recognized by the Jammu & Kashmir Paramedical Council. The aim is to impart both theoretical knowledge and extensive practical laboratory training across multiple disciplines (biochemistry, microbiology, hematology, and related diagnostic fields) so that graduates are competent to perform medical laboratory diagnostics in hospital, diagnostic center or research settings. Clinical exposure is likely through associated hospital labs. Because the course is offered under paramedical disciplines, students are meant to maintain professional and ethical standards as per regulatory bodies. The course helps fill demands for skilled lab technologists in the region.

Eligibility

• Must have passed 10+2 (or equivalent) with Physics, Chemistry, Biology.
• Minimum marks requirement (varies by institution; in many cases ~ 45‑50% for general category) in aggregate of PCB.
• Candidate must be medically fit. 
• Sometimes age criteria (e.g. ≥ 17 years) is imposed
