Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT)

Applicant must have passed 10+2 in any stream with English as a subject from a recognized board.

Bachelor of Science in Medical Laboratory Technology or BSc MLT is an undergraduate course of 3-year, which is divided into six semesters (two semesters per year). In this course professionals are taught about various aspects of health care. The students perform various diagnostic analysis on body fluids, which include hematology, bacteriology, immunologic, chemical and microscopic during the course. The subjects taught in the program are Clinical Endocrinology & Toxicology Lab, Diagnostic Molecular Biology Lab, Diagnostic Cytology etc. This course is specifically meant for the professionals who want to make a career in diagnostic science and opting to know more about the national and international standards of the laboratory in detail. The course aims to provide the candidate with adequate knowledge and skills to carry out routine and some sophisticated laboratory diagnostic procedures. Students would acquire theoretical knowledge related to the principles of the laboratory exercises and will also learn to deal with new advances in instrumentation, methodology or standardization, Management of Laboratories, Standard Protocols and use of technology that is related to Laboratory Investigations.

The career prospects in this field depend on the academic and technical skills of the technologist. These days with the growth in the private sector there are so many private hospitals, nursing homes, blood banks, pathology laboratories etc. the demand for laboratory technologists is on the up-swing.
