Overview

Dialysis is a medical procedure that acts as an artificial kidney by removing waste from the blood and excess fluids from the body when the kidney is not functioning well or disease prevents them from do so. Dialysis technicians are responsible for operating the machines that do this and monitoring the patients undergoing treatment. Dialysis technicians works closely with patients, nurses and doctors to make sure this vital medical equipment runs smoothly. Candidates will have training in haemo-dialysis, peritoneal dialysis, slow low efficiency dialysis and continuous Renal Replacement Therapy and plasmapheresis. Candidates are trained in wholesome renal care for patients with chronic kidney disease.

• The demand for dialysis has never been higher in India. With diabetes and hypertension on the rise, millions of people need renal replacement therapy in the form of dialysis in India. Dialysis technology is an exciting and rewarding field with enormous potential for job opportunities at corporate or Government hospitals (Government or private), clinics or healthcare setups operating dialysis units.
• Kidney is one of the most important organs in the body and any kidney failure might turn out to be a major medical emergency due to severe electrolyte disturbances. Dialysis Technology calls for an expertise in renal physiology as the technicians will be involved in operating the machines that do this life saving procedure as well as closely monitoring such patients.
• Apart from the above they are eligible to pursue Post-graduate programmes in the relevant area and it helps them to have the opportunity for teaching job at institutes offering dialysis technology education or patient education programs.

Eligibility

Candidates belonging to all categories for admission to the Allied Health Sciences should have passed the qualifying examinations after period of 12 years of study with English, Physics, Chemistry, Biology / Botany & Zoology with minimum 35% marks in each subjects (Academic / Vocational Stream).

Eligibility for Lateral Entry

• The lateral entry is applicable for all the UG Degree Course of Allied Health Science wherever corresponding Diploma Course is available in the concerned specialty. The duration of one year Internship applicable for all the Lateral Entry Candidates.
• Candidates belongs to all categories for admission to the Allied Health Sciences should have passed the qualifying examination after period of 12years of study with English, Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Botany and Zoology with minimum 35% marks in each subjects (Academic/Vocational Stream)
