Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Optometry

Overview

The course is offered under Nethradhama School of Optometry, a unit of Nethradhama Education & Research foundation. Optometry is a unique primary eye care profession that provides a wide range of interesting, rewarding and challenging career opportunities.

• The students enrolled in the course undergo three years of academic training and the final year of internship includes training in various specialties in all the branches of NETHRADHAMA HOSPITALS PVT LTD.
• The course commences in August of every year. It is a full time course with theory, practical and clinical session.
• At the end of each academic year, the students will be evaluated in both theory and practical.
• Each year will have a term end and internal assessment examination.
• There will be three internal assessment exams and continuous evaluation of student’s academic performance every year.
• A student has to secure a minimum of 50% marks in term – end examination each year.
• Equal weightage will be there for both internal assessment and term end exam both in theory and practical.
• After the successful completion of their 3 years and one year of internship the students will be awarded B.Sc degree in optometry.
• For both theory and practical medium of instruction will be English. Candidates are expected to write their examination in English only.

Eligibility

Candidates must have obtained 50% marks taken together in English, Physics, chemistry, Biology/Mathematics in the higher secondary Examination that is equivalent to 10+2. Candidates who have completed their 2/3 years of diploma in optometry can take admission directly in the second year of Bsc. Optometry. Admission to Next higher class is subjected to satisfactory Progress, behavior & attendance.
