Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Dialysis Technology

Pass in H.Sc/Equivalent with 12 years schooling form a recognized Board or University with Science (Physics, Chemistry and Biology or Botany and Zoology) and English with Minimum of 45% mark.

Dialysis is a medical procedure that acts as an artificial kidney by removing waste from the blood and excess fluids from the body when kidney failure or disease prevents them from do so. Dialysis technicians are responsible for operating the machines that do this and monitoring the patients undergoing treatment. Dialysis technicians works closely with patients, nurses and doctors to make sure this vital medical equipment runs smoothly.

Main Responsibilities: A dialysis technician who works with patients is in charge of assembling the machine, making sure it is in working order and ensuring it is sterile. The technician checks a patient's chart, administers local anaesthesia and inserts the needle, starting dialysis according to the prescription. During dialysis, the technician checks the anticoagulant (the drug prevents blood clotting), fluid rates and adjusts them as needed. The patient must be in the proper position and the technician must respond to any alarms or emergencies. After dialysis, the technician disconnects the machine and cleans it, and records a patient's vital signs.
