Overview

The course is to be affiliated by IKG-PTU Jalandhar, Punjab. B.Sc. in Cardiac Technology is a 3-year full-time undergraduate course divided into 6 semesters. Cardiac Technology is an allied course in medicine. Cardiac Technologists assist physicians during invasive cardiovascular testing; a tube is inserted into one of the blood vessels that carry blood into the heart. 

Scope of B.Sc Cardiac Technology

Cardiac specialists diagnose and treat patients suffering from heart disorders. After finishing the course, there are ample opportunities in cardiology. They can start working in hospitals, clinics, rehabilitation centers, nursing care centers, amongst others. Students can get job opportunities suitable for their experience and knowledge in the field. Students can also pursue higher studies such as M.Sc, Master of Surgery or MD in the same field. Students can also work for universities as researchers or teachers.

• Cardiovascular Technologist: Cardiovascular Technicians are responsible for handling devices, procedures to diagnose and treat people suffering from heart and blood vessel problems. They assist doctors while recording tests required for patients to diagnose heart-related problems. 
• Medical Sonographer: He or She performs imaging procedures by using high sound waves to construct images of inner body parts. They have specialized in imaging the body parts, reporting the findings, preparing and performing procedures, and providing clarity to the surgeons for the same.
• Dialysis Technician: Those professionals who operate dialysis machines. They monitor and assist patients who go through dialysis treatment. They adjust fluid removal rates and minimize the possibility of infection in the patient’s body. 
• Nephrologist Technician: Nephrologists are medical professionals that specialize in diagnosing, treating acute and chronic kidney diseases. They meet patients, operate and maintain machines and medical equipment 

Eligibility

Candidate should have passed 10+2 with 50% marks (45% marks in case of candidate belonging to Reserved Category) with Physics & Chemistry & Biology from recognized Board / University
