Overview
- The BPT programme at Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Medical College is designed to prepare students to become skilled physiotherapy professionals capable of evaluating and treating patients with a variety of physical, neurological, musculoskeletal, cardiopulmonary and rehabilitative needs.
- The curriculum combines theoretical instruction (basic medical sciences, anatomy, physiology, pathology, pharmacology, biomechanics, exercise therapy, electrotherapy, etc.) with practical and clinical training — including exposure to orthopaedics, neurology, general medicine & surgery, community rehabilitation, cardio-respiratory physiotherapy, sports physiotherapy, pediatric physiotherapy, and community health work.
- During the mandatory internship (last 6 months), students gain hands-on experience in hospital wards and rehabilitation setups, which helps them apply their learning in real-world clinical scenarios and develop competence in patient care, therapy design, and rehabilitative interventions.
- Graduates of BPT are eligible to work as physiotherapists in hospitals, rehabilitation centres, sports and fitness clinics, community health settings, or pursue advanced studies (such as Master’s in Physiotherapy — MPT) or specialization in orthopaedics, neurology, cardiopulmonary, sports physiotherapy, etc.
