Overview

    Bachelor of Pharmacy (B. Pharma) is an undergraduate programme of four years focused on the properties and impacts of pharmaceutical drugs. The programme prepares students to develop the requisite skills to counsel patients about medications and the use of drugs. The curriculum of Bachelor of pharmacy programme at Sikkim Professional University is designed according to Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) the statutory body governing the pharmacy profession in India. The core pharmacy subjects include Pharmaceutics Pharmaceutical Chemistry Pharmacognosy and Pharmacology. 

    B. Pharma programme lays stress on human anatomy, drug dosage, drug action and reaction, and active ingredients used in the formulation of the drugs and how to maintain their quality in the storage.

    Besides, the programme also concentrates on preparing the students and training them for industry-ready holistic pharmaceutical care in the practice setting. The industrial visits and equally important practical sessions ensure students receive perfect exposure to real-world situations while learning.

    Scope in the Government sector:

    Upon completion of B. Pharma., there are various options for a student to work in the government sector. Students can apply for the post of drug inspector or pharmacist in the government sector

    Scope in the Private sector:

    There are numerous opportunities for Pharmacy graduates in private sector. Some popular employment opportunities in the private sector are pharmaceutical marketing, quality control, production, pharmacist, etc. Today, there is a great demand for skilled pharmacists in private hospitals and drug manufacturing companies. Eligibility

    Students who have completed 10+2 with minimum of 50% marks in Physics and Chemistry as a compulsory subject along with one of the Mathematics / Computer Science / Biotechnology / Biology subjects along with English are eligible for Bachelor of Pharmacy (B. Pharma) admission.
