About Course

The Bachelor of Oral Health at the University of Sydney is a rigorous three-year full-time programme designed to equip graduates with the knowledge, clinical competence and professional capabilities needed for practice as oral health therapists (dental hygienist + dental therapist) in Australia and New Zealand.
The curriculum includes foundational biomedical science, head & neck anatomy, oral health promotion, dental hygiene, dental therapy and adult restorative scope of practice. Clinical placements are embedded from early years in leading dental hospitals and community settings, ensuring hands-on experience and development of critical reasoning and patient-care skills.
Graduates are eligible to register with the Dental Board of Australia, opening pathways into public health dental services, private practice, community education, and further postgraduate specialisation.
The programme emphasises prevention, health promotion, evidence-based practice and the broader impact of oral health on systemic health.
