Overview

Haveri Institute of Medical Sciences (HIMS), established in 2022 as a government medical college in Haveri, Karnataka, offers a comprehensive MBBS degree program designed to train future medical professionals. The MBBS curriculum spans 5.5 years, integrating pre-clinical, para-clinical, and clinical education followed by a mandatory one-year internship to ensure practical exposure and experience in patient care. HIMS is affiliated with Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences and is approved by the National Medical Commission (NMC) with an intake of 150 seats.

The college has essential infrastructure including classrooms, laboratories, a library, clinical skills facilities, and hospital attachments for clinical training. The attached teaching hospital also serves the local community while providing students with real-world experience across specialties. Hostel accommodation is provided for students. Admission to the MBBS program is competitive and based entirely on NEET-UG scores, followed by counselling through the Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA) and applicable national counselling channels.

Eligibility

1. Passed 10+2 or equivalent with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology.
2. Minimum 50% aggregate in PCB for the general category (lower for reserved categories as per NTA norms).
3. Qualified NEET-UG conducted by NTA.
4. Must participate in state/All-India counselling (KEA & MCC).
5. Minimum age: typically 17 years on or before December 31 of the admission year. (standard eligibility for MBBS)
