Overview

1. Chamarajanagar Institute of Medical Sciences (CIMS), Yadapura — established by the Government of Karnataka — aims to provide quality medical education and healthcare services to underserved and rural border districts. The campus sits on a spacious land (Survey No.124, Yadapura Village, Kasaba Hobli, Chamarajanagar – 571 313) and features adequate educational infrastructure: lecture halls, demonstration rooms, departmental labs, a central library with Indian and foreign journals, separate hostels for male and female students, and sports/recreation facilities.
2. For clinical training, students are attached to the institute’s teaching hospital — a district/tertiary care setup in Chamarajanagar town — which offers multiple specialities, with facilities including a multi-bed hospital, blood bank, labs, ICUs, and surgical theatres.
3. The MBBS program intake is 150 seats per year. he institute seeks to serve the health needs of the district and neighboring border areas while training competent medical graduates affiliated to RGUHS.
4. As a government medical college established in 2016, CIMS represents a growing effort to decentralize medical education and bring healthcare access to remote regions.

Eligibility

1. Must have passed 10+2 (or equivalent) with Physics, Chemistry and Biology.
2. Must appear in and obtain a valid score in NEET UG (conducted by NTA), as admission is through NEET + counseling.
3. Must follow reservation / quota / domicile norms as per state & all-India quota rules (since 85% seats via state quota, 15% via all-India quota).
