Overview

    • The BDS program is of four years duration with 240 teaching days in each academic year plus one year of compulsory rotatory internship. During this period, the student is required to be engaged in full-time study at the institution.
    • The Bachelor of Dental Surgery prepares students for patient-oriented dental practice and emphasizes prevention and early detection of dental disease Students develop a spirit of inquiry that leads them to seek better ways to promote and preserve oral and general health. The primary goal of our institution is to educate dentists who are well grounded in the basic medical sciences, skilled in the exercise of clinical care, and, above all, sensitive to the needs of their patients. To this end, the curriculum combines course work, and a series of planned, practical learning experiences in dental clinics of our college and medical hospitals outside the dental institution. Our aims and objectives are provision of:
    1. Basic knowledge on medical subjects
    2. Erudition on dental subjects
    3. Training in essential clinical skills
    4. Education in comprehensive patient care
    5. Knowledge for patient-oriented practice
    6. Essentials on patient communication skills

Eligibility

    • Candidates who have passed Intermediate (10+2 pattern) or its equivalent examination with English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology as optional subjects are eligible for admission to the first year. 
    • Candidate shall have obtained not less than 50% of the aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology taken together, and a pass in the English language in the qualifying examination, or any other examination recognized as equivalent by Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bengaluru (Bangalore), Karnataka. 
    • Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe (SC/ST) students or students of any other categories notified by the government shall be given a relaxation of 10% in the aggregate marks required for eligibility. 
    • The candidate shall have completed the age of 17 years at the time of admission or will complete this age on 31st December of the calendar year in which he/she seeks admission.
