Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS)

Overview

• BDS stands for Bachelor of Dental Surgery, and it is an undergraduate professional dentistry degree. The BDS program has a duration of four years of academic education and one year of compulsory internship.
• Admission to BDS programs in India is often through entrance exams, with NEET being a common exam for medical and dental courses. The curriculum includes subjects related to dental anatomy, oral pathology, community dentistry, orthodontics, and more.
• After completing the BDS program, graduates are required to undergo a one-year internship in a recognized dental college. Following the internship, they can register with the Dental Council of India (DCI) or the State Dental Council to practice dentistry in the country.

Eligibility

• Pass in 10+2 or equivalent examination conducted by Department of Pre-University Education, Karnataka State or any other boards / councils / Intermediate education established by State Governments / Central Government or any recognised two-year Pre-University, with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English, with a minimum 50 % marks scored together in Physics, Chemistry and Biology.
• Candidate should complete the age of 17 years on or before 31st December of the year of admission.
