Overview

The Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (BAMS) is a 5½-year undergraduate degree program comprising 4½ years of academic study and 1 year of compulsory rotatory internship. The program provides comprehensive education in Ayurvedic medicine and modern medical sciences, covering subjects such as Ayurvedic principles, anatomy, physiology, pathology, pharmacology (Dravyaguna), Panchakarma, Kayachikitsa (internal medicine), Shalya Tantra (surgery), Shalakya Tantra (ENT & ophthalmology), Prasuti Tantra and Stree Roga (obstetrics & gynecology), and Kaumarbhritya (pediatrics). Students receive extensive clinical training through the college's teaching hospital, preparing them for careers as Ayurvedic physicians, researchers, academicians, public health professionals, or for higher studies in Ayurveda.

Eligibility

  • Must have passed 10+2 (PUC) or an equivalent examination from a recognized board.
  • Must have studied Physics, Chemistry, Biology (PCB), and English as compulsory subjects in the qualifying examination.
  • Must have qualified the NEET-UG examination with the prescribed qualifying percentile for the admission year, as NEET is mandatory for BAMS admissions.
  • Must have completed 17 years of age on or before 31st December of the year of admission.
  • Admission is granted through the Karnataka state counseling/All India counseling based on NEET-UG merit and applicable reservation policies.

Admission Process:

  1. Qualify the NEET-UG examination with the required cutoff percentile.
  2. Register for the counseling process through:
  • AACCC (All India Quota – 15% seats), or
  • Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) (State Quota – 85% seats).

  2. Fill and lock your choice of Government Ayurvedic Medical College (GAMC), Bengaluru during the counseling process.
  3. Seat allotment is done based on NEET-UG rank, category, reservation policy, and seat availability.
