Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (BAMS)

Overview

B.A.M.S. marries ancient Ayurvedic wisdom with modern medical understanding. The curriculum includes classical texts (Charaka, Sushruta, Ashtanga Hridaya), anatomy, physiology, Dravyaguna (pharmacology), Panchakarma, Rasashastra, Shalakya, Kaumarabhritya, and modern diagnostic techniques. After completing a rigorous 4½‑year study followed by a 1‑year clinical internship, graduates can register as Ayurvedic practitioners, work in hospitals/clinics, pursue research, or teach.

Eligibility

Completed Class XII with PCB and English

≥ 50% in PCB (general), relaxed to 40% for reserved categories

Age ≥ 17 years as of December 31 of that year

NEET‑UG qualification required (as per NCISM guidelines)

Admission via UP Ayush NEET counselling (state/central quotas)
