Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (BAMS)

1. Curriculum: The BAMS curriculum covers a wide range of subjects, including Ayurvedic principles, anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, pathology, surgery, and traditional Ayurvedic treatments. Students learn about the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of diseases using Ayurvedic principles and therapies.
2. Practical Training: BAMS courses typically include practical training in Ayurvedic clinics or hospitals, where students gain hands-on experience in diagnosing patients, prescribing Ayurvedic medicines, and administering various treatments such as Panchakarma, herbal therapies, and yoga.
3. Traditional Knowledge: BAMS courses provide a deep understanding of traditional Ayurvedic concepts, including the use of herbs, minerals, diet, lifestyle modifications, and therapeutic procedures. Students also learn about Ayurvedic diagnosis techniques, pulse reading, and traditional Ayurvedic formulations.

Career Opportunities: After completing the BAMS course and obtaining the necessary license, graduates can work as Ayurvedic doctors, consultants, or researchers in government and private hospitals, clinics, Ayurvedic resorts, wellness centers, pharmaceutical companies, and Ayurvedic research institutions. They can also establish their own practice or pursue higher education and specialization in various branches of Ayurveda.

The AYUSH Admission Central Counseling Committee manages admission to 15% of All India Quota seats in government BAMS colleges in India (AACCC). At the same time, access to the 85% government state quota seats of the BAMS course in India is handled by the state’s affiliated university.
