Anesthesiology Residency Research Track

The Anesthesiology Residency Research Track at the University of Colorado Anschutz School of Medicine integrates clinical anesthesiology training with structured basic and clinical research training to develop future clinician-scientists and leaders in anesthesiology. Selected residents become Virtue Research Scholars and receive dedicated mentorship, research training, opportunities to lead research teams, and 6–9 months of protected research time during residency. The track also supports research portfolio development, presentations, publications, grant activities, leadership development, and potential 2–3 years of T32 research training after residency.

1. Apply to the Anesthesiology Residency Research Track specifically through ERAS
2. Applicants are encouraged to describe their research experience, research interests, and career goals in the ERAS application
3. Applicants are also encouraged to use the ERAS Program Signaling feature to indicate strong interest in the program
4. Applications are reviewed by both the resident recruitment and research recruitment committees
5. Selected candidates undergo two interviews: one with the clinical residency faculty and another with research faculty
6. Research-track candidates are ranked and selected through the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP)
7. Successful candidates join the Anesthesiology residency after the match; candidates may enter the Virtue Research Scholar Program as CBY residents or as CA-1 residents after completing the CBY elsewhere
