The Advanced Orthopaedic Physical Therapy Practice, Research and Education Fellowship is offered by the Department of Physical Therapy and Human Movement Sciences at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. Designed for experienced licensed physical therapists, the fellowship develops advanced expertise in managing complex orthopaedic conditions through evidence-based clinical practice. The curriculum integrates classroom instruction, mentored clinical practice, research, and teaching experiences to prepare fellows for leadership roles in clinical practice and academia. Fellows complete approximately 150 hours of one-to-one mentored clinical practice under experienced faculty and clinicians. The program places strong emphasis on advanced clinical reasoning, orthopaedic manual therapy, evidence-based decision-making, and scholarly research. Participants also gain experience in physical therapy education through structured teaching opportunities. The fellowship maintains ACOMPTE accreditation and supports graduates seeking AAOMPT Fellowship status. Through collaboration with Northwestern University and affiliated clinical partners, fellows receive comprehensive training that advances clinical excellence, research capability, and educational leadership in orthopaedic physical therapy.
