The Adult Reconstruction Fellowship at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine is a high-volume subspecialty training program based at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, one of the leading academic medical centres in the United States. The fellowship provides extensive exposure to both primary and revision hip and knee arthroplasty procedures, preparing fellows for independent practice in complex adult reconstructive surgery. Fellows participate in more than 500 surgical cases during the training year and gain experience in advanced surgical techniques, including minimally invasive procedures, computer-assisted surgery, direct anterior hip replacement, and complex revision arthroplasty. Clinical training encompasses all aspects of patient care, including outpatient evaluation, preoperative planning, operative management, and postoperative follow-up. The program offers access to state-of-the-art facilities, including biomechanics laboratories, gait analysis resources, anatomy laboratories, and advanced surgical simulation centres. Research is a major component of the fellowship, with protected academic time dedicated to scholarly projects, manuscript preparation, and presentations at national meetings. Fellows are mentored by experienced arthroplasty surgeons who are actively involved in major orthopaedic organisations and research initiatives. Graduates are well prepared for careers in academic orthopaedics, high-volume arthroplasty practices, healthcare leadership, and advanced joint replacement surgery.
