Aarupadai Veedu Medical College & Hospital (AVMC), Kirumampakkam

Aarupadai Veedu Medical College and Hospital was established in the year 2000 by the Thirumuruga Kirupananda Variyar Thavathiru Sundara Swamigal Medical Educational and Charitable Trust. Located at Pondicherry- Cuddalore Road, a national highway, the self-contained and serene campus is spread over 44 acres of lush green lands. Initially the Institution was affiliated to Pondicherry University subsequently it came under the ambit of Vinayaka Mission's Research Foundation Deemed to be University, in the year 2004. The institution offers postgraduate courses in 13 disciplines and PhD programmes across various specialities and interdisciplinary areas. The MBBS programme was started in the year 2000-2001 and continued ever since. At present, the annual intake is 150 MBBS and 74 postgraduate students; currently, over 750 undergraduate and postgraduate students are pursuing their studies at AVMCH. The hospital boasts of a well-designed, efficient dialysis unit. Laparoscopy equipment for general and gynaecological surgery, ESWL, lithotripsy, PUVA chamber and laser instruments for cosmetic surgery are available for quality patient care services.

Facilities:

Anatomy Lab: It has a large, roomy dissection hall. Apart from these, there are two demonstration halls and one histology laboratory.

Pathology Lab: This has two laboratories and one research lab. The museum has more than 1500 specimens. Specimens from outside the institution come for expert opinion to this department.

Microbiology Lab: Fully staffed, there are four postgraduates in this department. This department monitors the hygienic aspect of Pondicherry Municipality.

Lecture Halls: There are four lecture halls which are gallery type and air conditioned.
